Steam Biological Indicator

Steam Biological Indicators 20-Min (Rapid)

SVSBI20M Super Rapid-Readout Steam Biological Indicators are engineered for the rapid and reliable monitoring of vacuum-assisted and gravity-displacement steam sterilization cycles operating within the 121°C–134°C range.

Each self-contained indicator consists of a plastic vial with a permeable cap, an internal barrier filter, a carrier inoculated with Geobacillus stearothermophilus (ATCC 7953) endospores, and a crushable glass ampoule containing the nutrient culture medium. The indicator delivers fast, precise verification of sterilization efficacy via a visual colorimetric readout.

Instructions for Use

1
Pre-Load Preparation

Position the indicators inside the sterilization load prior to initiating the cycle.

2
Incubation Process

Following sterilization, incubate the indicators at 60 ± 2°C.

3
Color Transition and Result Interpretation

Verify cycle efficacy during or at the conclusion of incubation by observing the medium color:

If sterilization is successful, the culture medium remains purple (Pass).
A purple → yellow color transition indicates sterilization failure (Fail).
4
Definitive Readout Time

The definitive negative result can be confirmed at the conclusion of the 20-minute incubation period.

Storage Conditions

Store in a dark area at 15–30°C and 35–60% relative humidity.

Do not freeze. Maintain under controlled room temperature conditions.

Keep away from sterilants and other chemical agents.

Steam Biological Indicator 1-Hour (Rapid)

The SVSBI1H Steam Super Rapid Biological Indicator is specifically engineered to monitor steam sterilization processes. By detecting the presence of viable Geobacillus stearothermophilus (ATCC 7953) spores, it provides rapid and reliable verification of sterilization efficacy.

Following incubation at 60 ± 2°C in the SteriVision Auto-Reader Incubator, the detection of a fluorescent signal indicates sterilization failure, whereas the absence of fluorescence confirms that the sterilization cycle was successful. The definitive readout is obtained within 1 hour.

Instructions for Use

1
Pre-Load Preparation

Position the indicators inside the sterilization load prior to initiating the cycle.

2
Incubation Process

Following sterilization, incubate the indicators at 60 ± 2°C in the SteriVision Auto-Reader Incubator.

3
Automated Readout and Result Interpretation

Evaluate cycle efficacy based on the incubator’s fluorescent signal detection:

No Fluorescence: Sterilization Successful (Pass)
Fluorescent Signal: Sterilization Failure (Fail)

Optional: Visual color change can also be confirmed after 24 hours.

Storage Conditions

Store in a dark area at 10–30°C and 30–80% relative humidity.

Do not freeze. Maintain under controlled room temperature conditions.

Keep away from sterilants and other chemical agents.

Steam Biological Indicator 3-Hour (Rapid)

The SVSBI3H Steam Rapid-Readout Biological Indicator is engineered for the fast and reliable monitoring of vacuum-assisted and gravity-displacement steam sterilization cycles operating within the 121°C–134°C range.

Each self-contained indicator consists of a plastic vial with a permeable cap, an internal barrier filter, a carrier inoculated with Geobacillus stearothermophilus (ATCC 7953) endospores, and a crushable glass ampoule containing the nutrient culture medium. The indicator delivers early and precise visual verification of sterilization efficacy.

Steam Biological Indicator 24-Hours (Standard)

Self-Contained Biological Indicator for Steam Sterilization (24 Hours) SVSBI24H Steam Biological Indicators are designed for the reliable monitoring of steam sterilization processes.

Each indicator contains a glass ampoule with culture medium, a spore carrier inoculated with Geobacillus stearothermophilus (ATCC 7953), a chemical indicator strip, a plastic vial, a cap, and filter paper.

If sterilization fails, the medium changes from purple to yellow following incubation at 60 ± 2°C, indicating the presence of viable spores.

If sterilization is successful, the medium remains purple.

The final readout must be taken after a 24-hour incubation period.

Instructions for Use

1
Pre-Load Preparation

Place the indicators inside the load before initiating the sterilization cycle.

2
Cooling & Visual Inspection

Following sterilization, allow the indicators to cool for 5–10 minutes. Check the chemical indicator on the label — a color change from pink to brown confirms exposure to steam.

3
Activation & Incubation

Crush the glass ampoule, ensure the spore carrier is fully submerged in the culture medium, and incubate at 60 ± 2°C.

4
Color Change & Result Interpretation

Monitor color change during incubation to verify cycle success:

If no color change occurs after 24 hours, sterilization was successful.
A color change from purple to yellow indicates sterilization failure.
5
Positive Control

Incubate an unprocessed indicator daily as a positive control to verify incubator performance and medium viability.

Storage Conditions

Store in a dark place at 10–30°C and 30–80% relative humidity.

Do not freeze.

Keep away from sterilants and other chemical agents.
