Ethylene Oxide (EO) Biological Indicator
Ethylene Oxide (EO) Biological Indicator (4h)
The SVEOBI4H is engineered to monitor ethylene oxide (EtO) sterilization processes.
In the event of a sterilization failure, following incubation at 37 ± 2°C, the growth medium within the SteriVision Auto-Reader Incubator produces a positive fluorescent readout, confirming the presence of viable Bacillus atrophaeus (ATCC 9372) spores. Conversely, if the sterilization cycle is successful, the incubator displays a negative result. The definitive readout is obtained after 4 hours of incubation.
Instructions for Use
It is recommended to position the indicator in areas most difficult for EtO gas to penetrate (such as the center of the load or adjacent to the chamber door).
Initiate the standard sterilization and aeration cycle.
Following a 5–10 minute cooling interval, inspect the chemical process indicator strip — a color transition from pink to brown confirms EtO exposure.
Crush the internal glass ampoule, fully submerge the spore carrier disc into the growth medium, and incubate within the Auto-Reader Incubator.
Upon completion of the incubation period, verify cycle efficacy based on the fluorescence readout from the auto-reader:
Incubate an unprocessed biological indicator daily as a positive control to verify proper incubation parameters and culture medium viability.
Storage Conditions
Store in original packaging at 10–30°C and 30–80% relative humidity.
Do not freeze. Maintain under controlled room temperature conditions.
Keep away from sterilants and other chemical agents.
Optional Visual Confirmation (After 48 Hours): A color change in the growth medium from green to yellow indicates sterilization failure, whereas maintaining the unchanged green color confirms successful sterilization.

Self-Contained Rapid Readout Biological Indicator for Ethylene Oxide (48h)
The SVEOBI48H Biological Indicator is engineered to monitor ethylene oxide (EtO) sterilization processes.
In the event of a sterilization failure, following incubation at 37 ± 2°C, the growth medium transitions from green to yellow, confirming the presence of viable Bacillus atrophaeus (ATCC 9372) spores. If the sterilization cycle is successful, the medium remains green at the end of the 48-hour incubation period.
Instructions for Use
It is recommended to position the indicator alongside the materials to be sterilized in areas where EtO penetration is most challenging (e.g., the center of the load).
Initiate the standard sterilization and aeration cycle. After cooling, inspect the chemical indicator strip on the label — a color transition from pink to brown confirms EtO exposure.
Crush the internal glass ampoule and fully submerge the spore carrier disc into the growth medium. Incubate the indicators at 37 ± 2°C for 48 hours.
At the conclusion of the incubation period, evaluate the color change in the growth medium:
Positive Control: Incubate an unprocessed biological indicator daily as a positive control to verify proper incubation conditions and culture media viability.
Storage Conditions
Store in original packaging at 10–30°C and 30–80% relative humidity.
Do not freeze.
Keep away from sterilants or other chemical agents.
